Within a community, a steward protects the environment for all members and takes responsibility for effects of use of resources extracted from other locations, effects on downstream air pollution, and effects of wastes disposed of elsewhere. A steward operates with transparency and encourages others to be collaborative stewards. A steward is a leader.
